     "The Value of Visualization"


zum Inhalt:

In my talk, I first try to put the field of visualization into 
context with science in general. Then I survey some of the 
visualization community's key figures' works that describe how the 
value of visualization could be assessed and why visualization 
research is hard: as general visualization lacks a theory (yet), it 
requires extensive evaluation on multiple levels of granularity. I 
will then discuss some paper submissions of our group to illustrate 
why they were successful or not according to the models developed by 
these key figures. I finish with general guidelines for Your next 
visualization research project and publication, which we will 
hopefully extend in the discussion the talk incites.
