"Lagrangian feature extraction based on the acceleration magnitude"


zum Inhalt:

The analysis of time-dependent flow fields is a complicated task due to 
the amount and complexity of the generated data. Feature-based analysis 
helps to focus on the important structures of the flow. An interesting 
quantity that helps to identify different kinds of structures is the 
acceleration. In my talk, I will present a pipeline that enables the 
robust extraction of flow features based on the acceleration combined 
with a spatial and temporal filtering. The extracted features include 
vortex core lines and their regions of influence. I will present 
applications to different time-dependent two-dimensional flow fields.
