Wir hören einen Vortrag auf Deutsch von:
Christian Lucas
Universität Leipzig
über seine Masterarbeit mit dem Titel
"Expectation Maximization for Probabilistic Segmentation"
zum Inhalt:
Atlas-based probabilistic classification is a proven method for organ
segmentation in medical images. A recent approach includes coarse
positioning and deformable registration of organ regions. However, the
atlas-based classification does not adapt sufficiently to individual
patient data.
This work investigates a patient-specific classification via expectation
maximization to improve the segmentation. Estimation of the organ gray
value distribution and location probability is iterated with
optimization of the registration parameters.
The algorithm has been implemented in Bash and Python scripting
language. It is evaluated on 297 CT images from different institutions
and scanners on five organ groups, including lungs, heart, liver,
spleen, kidneys, bladder, prostate, rectum, and femoral heads.
The method performs well on organs with distinctive gray value
distribution, e.g. lungs, liver, or spleen (mean DICE coefficient >=
0.85). The expectation maximization step improves segmentation results
from the previous atlas steps. Organs with a widespread gray value
range, two peaks in their gray value distribution, or similar structures
in their spatial vicinity, e.g. as for femoral heads, cannot be
sufficiently segmented with the current implementation.
Alle Interessierten sind im Namen von Professor Dr. Scheuermann herzlich
eingeladen.
