am Mittwoch, den 10. Oktober 2018, 13:15 Uhr,
Raum P-701 im Paulinum am Augustusplatz.

Wir hören einen Vortrag von

    Michelle Kampfrath

mit dem Titel:

"Visualization of 3D tiled binned scatter plots using a virtual reality environment"

zum Inhalt:

When projecting 3D tiled binned scatter plots onto a two-dimensional
display, occlusions occur. TiBi-VR was proposed for analyzing these scatter
plots in a virtual reality environment using a HTC Vive and Leap Motion
Controller for eliminating occlusions and an intuitive handling. The goal of
this bachelor thesis was to develop an extension of TiBi-VR to improve
handling and performance and to answer the question whether a combination of
a controller and gesture recognition handling is preferable to an exclusive
use of gesture recognition. The real-time game engine Unity was used to
develop TiBi-VR and the extension. The combined handling is more accurate
and precise, especially for the scatter plots rotation and the handling of
the menu. Furthermore, the performance has improved from an average of 30
FPS to an average of 100 FPS through the use of a particle system.
Therefore, the extension of TiBi-VR is an improvement of the original
application and a combination of a controller and gesture recognition
handling is preferable to an exclusive use of gesture recognition.
