A talk will be given by

     Marc Wahsner

and is entitled:

     'Optimizing the readabilty of RNApuzzler-drawings'

Abstract:

     One of the tasks in bioinformatics and biology is the analysis of RNAs
     in order to understand their function. To foster this analysis, 
drawings
     of the secondary structure of RNAs are used, RNApuzzler is a fast 
algorithm
     that produces planar drawings of RNA secondary structures. Therefore,
     the planarization step is completed by an optimization step leading to
     visually appealing drawings with improved readability. The 
Optimization-Framework
     uses strategies that work well in practice. Here, their quality was
     assessed based on a dedicated quality metric. The analysis of the
     Optimization-Framework yields five optimization algorithms which 
produce
     drawings of very high visual quality and can be used for different
     purposes.
