    Dear all,<br class="">
    as we are advancing with the FREME project
    (<a href="http://freme-project.eu/" target="_blank" class="">http://freme-project.eu/</a>) we feel that it is the right time to
    tackle some issues of NIF 2.0 which make NIF simpler and easier to
    use.<br class="">
    <br class="">
    So the roadmap is to change the ontology first and then update
    implementations and corpora.<br class="">
    <br class="">
    Milan, Markus, Martin and me put together a document showing the
    changes:<br class="">

    <br class="">
    <br class="">
    We consider most of them a clear imrovement, reducing the size of
    NIF a lot and fixing ambuigities.<br class="">
    <br class="">
    The most pressing discussion points are:<br class="">
    <br class="">
    1. rename nif:referenceContext to nif:context for simplicity<br class="">
    2. move to a W3C community group or even working group<br class="">
    3. move the ontology to a w3c namespace, e.g.
