You are invited to participate in the workshop
"Death, Healthspan and Aging: From Definitions to Data Semantics"
Rostock, Thursday 26 -- Friday 27 Nov. 2015
*** Aims and Topics
Research findings and data in biomedical aging research are now stored and
processed electronically. However, a standard for data semantics is still
lacking. This workshop brings together aging researchers, bioinformaticians
and philosophers.
How are central terms like "death", "aging" and "healthspan" defined in
various disciplines or with respect to various levels of biological
phenomena - molecules, cells, and organisms? Are these definitions or
conceptualizations compatible with each other? Do they add to an integrated
picture of death, aging and healthspan? Can they integrate data and findings
from different disciplines and different species, or must they be modified
to serve this end?
The goal of the workshop is to define a multi-species framework for useful
data-semantics for research on healthspan and aging. The meeting is a
follow-up on the 2013 RoSyBA workshop.
